Jane Fletcher – Class of 1981
During her time at SHS, Jane was a state champion in Cross Country in 1979, 1980, 1981 and a state champion in Girls Basketball in 1980. She was the recipient of the Nancy Clampitt award in 1981.
After high school, Jane attended Indiana University and graduated with a major in Elementary Ed. She acquired her master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Indianapolis
Currently, Jane is a second grade Teacher Homecroft Elementary School and was named Homecroft Teacher of the Year for 2010. In her personal life, Jane is the proud mom of twin boys Clayton and Kyle. Clayton & Kyle were State Champions in Basketball from Bloomington South in 2009. They both graduated from IU in 2014
Jane’s legacy extends deep into SHS history. Her father, Ken Wheeler, graduated from SHS in 1948. He was a member of the boys basketball team that won a sectional in 1947. She had two brothers graduate from Southport as well – Kevin Wheeler in 1978 and Kurt Wheeler in 1984
