Jody began attending Perry Township Schools as he entered his 5th Grade year at Clinton Young. He then attended Keystone Middle School and graduated from Southport High School in 1991. While at Southport High School, Jody was a member of the tennis team and the marching band. He was a part of the 1987 Indiana State Fair Champions and had the opportunity to march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in 1987. Jody also has college degrees from Anderson University (’95) and IUPUI (’00). He worked as Public Affairs Coordinator at WFMS. He also gave news and traffic reports. He went back to school at IUPUI in 1998 to earn his degree in Elementary Education.
Jody began his teaching career at Clinton Young Elementary where he taught 2nd and 4th Grade from 2000-2007. He was then hired as the Assistant Principal at CY for the 2007-2008 school year. The township transferred him to the position of Assistant Principal at both Homecroft and Southport Elementary Schools, where he worked from 2008-2011. Jody was hired to serve as the principal at Homecroft Elementary in 2011 and that is his current position.
Jody is married to Catherine (Cloud), a graduate of Pike High School (’91). Their adopted son, Dut Mabok, graduated from Southport High School in 2017 and played 4 years on the basketball team. Their daughter, Hannah Matthews, graduated in 2023 after a very successful 4-year stint on the Girls’ Golf team. The Matthews live in the Homecroft neighborhood and are active supporters of Southport High School.
